Rollin N. Harpring

Rollin N. Harpring, 82, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.  Born, May 9, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of Louis and Marie (Schroeder) Harpring.  Rollin graduated from Greensburg High School in 1954.  He served in the Army shortly after the Korean Conflict.  Rollin started ACRO Engineering (then Acro Tool and Die) in 1963, after working as a machinist and tool & die maker at a Ford Philco plant.  Rollin was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church once serving on the Pastoral Council.  He was an avid fisherman, taking his last trip just a month ago to Illinois.  He was active in ¾ midget racing for many years being part of the team winning 5 straight Indiana UMRA championships.  He was also a member of both the Ford and Studebaker Clubs in Indiana.  Rollin married Marcie (Zoellner) Harpring on December 2, 1972 and she survives. Other survivors include, his son; Chris (Rebecca) Harpring, Greensburg, his three grandchildren; John, Philomena, and Louis Harpring, his brother; Melvin (Roberta) Harpring, Greensburg, and his sister; Marlene Harsin, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg with a rosary service starting at 3:30 p.m.  Visitation will also be from 9am until the time of services at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Fr. Adam Ahern officiating.  Burial will be held in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church Building Fund.
