Shirley Helen Niese

Shirley Helen (Weisbach) Niese, age 69 of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Born September 11, 1953, in Greensburg, Indiana, she is the daughter of John and Eleanor (Koetter) Weisbach.

Shirley married her childhood best friend, William Niese, on July 27, 1974. Shirley had a passion for the medical field where she worked as an RN for 47 years. She was an extremely social person who never met a stranger. She would start a conversation with any person she came across. She enjoyed many interests like playing cards, working on puzzles, watching any sport game on TV while rooting for Green Bay Packers, and most important going to her grandchildren’s activities which included soccer, basketball, softball, cheerleading, dance recitals, and band competitions. Shirley loved to travel and looked forward to every year taking her family on vacations.

Shirley is survived by her husband, William Niese of Greensburg; son, Daniel (Aimee Roy) Niese of Greensburg; daughter, Julie (Gary) Schutte of Sunman; grandchildren: Zachary, Sydney, Chase, Kinlee, and Kylee.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, John & Eleanor Weisbach.

A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023, from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 1:00 pm with Father John Meyer officiating.
