Stephen D. Carter

Stephen D. “Steve” Carter, 75, Greensburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

He was born on March 15, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Harold and Easter (Chappell) Carter.

Steve worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction of bridges.  He was a member of the Labor and Teamster Union.

He married Louise Davis on November 4, 1988 and she survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Dan (Laura) Hafley, Indianapolis, Glen (Cindy) Hafley, Indianapolis; one brother, David Carter, Indianapolis, Granddaughter, Ciera McKinley; Grandson, Caleb Hafley; one niece, Amy and one nephew, Chris.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jess Hafley; one brother, Mike Carter.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Star Baptist Church followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Tom True officiating. Burial will follow the services at the Star Baptist Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Star Baptist Church.
