Viola M. Torwelle

Viola M. Torwelle of Greensburg, Indiana (formerly of Sunman) passed away September 18, 2022 at the age of 90. She was born December 23, 1931 to Robert and Esther Richter.

Viola married Robert Torwelle on June 20, 1953 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Penntown. He preceded her in death in 2007.

Viola farmed with her husband in Sunman for 50 years and also worked “up the road” at McPhersons. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Home was her favorite place to be.

She is survived by two daughters: Geraldine (Marty) McKinney of Batesville and Diane (Dan) Scheidler of Greensburg; four grandchildren: Hannah McKinney, Wesley McKinney, Michael (Nicole) Scheidler and Annalie Scheidler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant sister, brother, and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm with Rev. Terry Canfield officiating. Private graveside rites will be held for the immediate family in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg.
