Steve And Denise Butz

d. December 2, 2012

On Sunday, December 2, Steve and Denise Butz left their home on earth and entered into their heavenly home, where they were met by their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as well as family and friends who had gone before them. Steven A. Butz (45) was born February 16, 1967 in Greensburg to John A. and Nancy J. (Cook) Butz. Steve was a lifelong resident of Greensburg, and graduated from Greensburg Community High School in 1986. Upon graduation, Steve went to work for James Rivers (Printpack), then was employed at Hoeing Supply. For the past 5 years, he has been employed by Honda as a packaging engineer. Denise L. Kramer Butz was born June 7, 1970 in Greensburg, the 7th out of 11 children, to Raymond C. and Helen J. (Diekhoff) Kramer. Denise, too, was a lifelong resident of Greensburg, and graduated from Greensburg Community High School in 1988. After high school, Denise went straight into the workforce for KB Foods, where she was employed for 20 years. After recently completing her bachelor’s degree, she began working as the Human Resource Manager at Kroger Bakery, Indianapolis. Steve and Denise were married on April 25th, 1992 and together they built a life with each other. They were both actively involved members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, serving on numerous committees, including the St. Mary’s Festival Committee and Christ Renews His Parish. Steve was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and helped coach in the youth wrestling program, as well as Greensburg Junior High Wrestling. Denise was involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the AIM Buddy Lunch Program, and served on the search committee for the CEO of DCMH. Steve and Denise both recognized that all they had came from God and were always willing to generously share their blessings with others. Of all the success they achieved throughout life, their proudest accomplishments were their two sons: Blake (17) and Brandon (15), who survive. Steve and Denise will forever be remembered as devoted parents, loving members of their families, and friends to their church community. They enjoyed serving others, but more than anything, they enjoyed their time spent with family and friends, giving all they had to make sure their family was cared for. In addition to his two sons, Steve is survived by his parents, John and Nancy Butz; sister, Beth Ann (Dave) Moore, all of Greensburg; and several nieces, nephews, one great-niece and one great-nephew. Denise was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Kramer. In addition to her two sons, she is survived by her mother, Helen Kramer; siblings, Gary (Rose) Kramer, Alan (Teresa) Kramer, Anita (Dan) Scheidler, Sheila (Mike) Kirchhoff, Susan (Jeff) Springmeyer, Lisa (Eric) Wagoner –Rushville, Roger (Jennifer) Kramer, Marvin (Tina) Kramer, Angela (Kevin) Weber, Julie (Aaron) Corbett-New Palestine; and several nieces, nephews, and one great-niece. A combined visitation with the families of Don and Barb Horan will be from 4pm-9pm on Thursday, December 6th at St. Mary’s Catholic School (south/new campus). A combined memorial mass celebrating the lives of Steve and Denise, as well as their dear friends, Don & Barb Horan, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday December 7th, at Greensburg Community High School Gymnasium with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery following the mass. Memorials can be made to St. Mary's School Fund or The Butz Family Trust Fund.
