June C. Higgins

June C. Higgins, 86, Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Born December 25, 1926 in New Castle, Indiana, she was the daughter of Edward W. and Iona L. (Goodwin) Shoop. She had worked for M &J Distributors in Indianapolis prior to her retirement. She later worked as a lay minister at her church. She was married first to Charles L. Veerkamp and he preceded her in death on December 18, 1972. She then married Michael J. Higgins and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2001. She is survived by three sons, Paul D. Veerkamp, Michael A. Veerkamp, Daniel P. Veerkamp; one daughter, Theresa L. Williamson; one brother, Edward W. Shoop. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands; one son, Patrick Veerkamp; one daughter, Marida Plumhoff; one brother, Glenn C. Shoop; two sisters, Barbara Kennedy, Dorothy Deeds. Visitation will be from 1-4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
