Harry Lecher, 86, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Arbor Grove Village Nursing Home in Greensburg.
Born, October 21, 1923 in Hamburg, Indiana, he was the son of Peter and Anna (Schulte) Lecher.
He was married to Clara Jane Eisert on May 31, 1952, and she preceded him in death on October 2, 1987.
Harry was a member of the United States Army and served in World War II.
Harry was a self-employed livestock trucker. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 129, the Knights of Columbus, and the Eagles Lodge.
He is survived by one son; Larry (Wanda) Lecher, Greensburg, one daughter-in-law; Susan Lecher, Greensburg, 5 brothers; Bill Lecher, Greensburg, Joe Lecher, Greensburg, Ed Lecher, Greensburg, Paul Lecher, Batesville, Jim Lecher, Batesville, one sister; Ida Nobbe, Batesville, 3 granddaughters; Nyoka (Kyle) Nobbe, Natasha (Mark) Struewing, and Nickella (Brandon) Reid, and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son; Jerry Paul "Pete" Lecher, 4 brothers; Leo, George, Norbert, and Herman Lecher, and one sister; Frieda Nobbe.
Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Monday, September 6, 2010 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A rosary service will be held prior to visitation at the funeral home at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Msgr. Harold Knueven officiating.
Interment will be held in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana.
Full military graveside rites will be held by the American Legion Post 129.
Memorials may be made to the Decatur County Hospice or to the St. Mary's Cemetery.
