William M. “Bill” Picker, 94, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 in Greensburg. Bill was born on March 13, 1923 in Millhousen to William H. and Ottilia M. (Pfeifer) Picker. Bill joined the Navy and served during WWII from 1943 until 1946 and during that time he was stationed aboard the USS Milwaukee and the USS Chicago. Bill previously worked for Bruns-Gutzwiller as a brick mason. He was the co-owner of Picker and Luken Construction, and he was active in the Indiana/Kentucky Bricklayers Union. Bill was a former city councilman, a member of the Knights of Columbus, V.F.W., and American Legion, all in Greensburg. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg. Bill married Nancy E. Greiwe on June 8, 1979, and she survives. Bill is survived by his wife Nancy Picker. He is also survived by his two sons; Greg (Melissa) Picker, David Picker, two step-sons; Jeff (Dawn) Greiwe, Gary (Dorene) Greiwe, two step-daughters; Natalie Beth (Johnny) Glover, Lisa (Danny) Colson, two sisters; Velma Ortman, Mary Ellen Ploughe, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Harold, Arthur, Edwin, and Lester Picker, five sisters; Ethel Kohlman, Bernice Hahn, Eula Cook, Betty Keillor, and a baby sister in infancy, and 1 granddaughter. Visitation will be from 9 – 11 am on Wednesday, July 19 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg. A funeral mass will begin at 11 am on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. John Geis officiating. Burial and military graveside rites will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg. Donations can be made to the St. Mary’s Church Building Fund.
