Russell Beckner

Funeral Director/Manager

Russell is a 2008 graduate of Waldron High School. After high school he attended IUPUI and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Russell then returned back to school and graduated from Ivy Tech Community College with an Associate's Degree in Mortuary Science. He then went on to serve as a Funeral Director in Indianapolis for several years. Russell is glad to be back home and honored to be serving the community he lives in.

Michael Porter

Funeral Director

Mike is the third generation of the Porter family in the funeral business. He is a 1976 graduate of Greensburg Community High School, and he received his mortuary degree from Vincennes University. Mike is a former District Director of the Indiana Funeral Directors Association. He served as Coroner of Decatur County for 8 years. Mike’s favorite activities include golfing with his friends, attending the Indianapolis 500, and spending time with his two children and four grandchildren. He also enjoys hiking, taking walks, and traveling with his wife, Nancy.

Matt Porter

Funeral Director

Matt, a fourth-generation Porter funeral director, graduated from Greensburg Community High School in 2000. He then attended the University of Indianapolis and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business in 2004. Matt continued his education at Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science where he received his Associate of Applied Science degree. He has passed both the Indiana and National Funeral Directors Board Exams. In addition, Matt completed course work from the prestigious Outlook Academy of Advance Funeral Planning in Franklin, Ohio. Matt is directly responsible for assisting families with all their funeral prearrangement planning needs. Matt is married to his wife Leann, and together they have three daughters.

Ed Dwenger

Ed has been a lifelong Decatur County resident. He served in the US Army in Kentucky and Oklahoma. He has held several offices with the Knights of Columbus, including Greensburg Grand Knight and Indiana State Squire Director. He retired from Printpack after 43 years. Ed was a former city council member and currently serves on the Washington Township Advisory Board. He has been married to Brenda Dwenger for 51 years and together they have 5 children, 19 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. Ed has enjoyed working for Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home since 2012 as a funeral assistant.

Gary Solgere

Assistant

Gary has enjoyed working for Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home since 2016 as a funeral assistant. Prior to that, Gary worked in the industrial manufacturing field for 35 years where, for a period, he was the co-owner and national sales manager for DriQuik, Inc. located in Greensburg. In his spare time, Gary enjoys volunteering at the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame. He also enjoys playing golf and pickleball, as well as spending time with his family. Gary lives in Greensburg with his wife, Trina. Together they have two children, Ashley and Evan and two grandchildren, Remy and Brooks.

Casi Beckner

Casi graduated with an associate's degree in Nursing in 2013. Since then, she has provided care to families in our community. In 2021, she began working at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home. She is excited to further provide compassion and professionalism for families. She works passionately alongside the funeral directors to provide the best possible experience for grieving families as they navigate through their last goodbyes to their loved ones.

Joan Metz

Assistant

Joan and her husband Bill live on their family farm east of Kingston in Decatur County since their marriage in 1987. She is a graduate of North Decatur High School and has been employed with the Decatur County Government for the past 18 years. She and Bill have 3 children, P.J., Clair and Garrett. In her spare time, she enjoys watching P.J. coach the North Decatur varsity basketball team, gardening, decorating, and caring for her 5 grandchildren. Joan enjoys meeting the public and is happy to be a part of Porter-Oliger-Pearson.

Becky Metz

A lifelong resident of Decatur County, Becky recently retired from Decatur County REMC with over 23 years in the Member Services Department. She is a graduate of North Decatur High School and is licensed in Cosmetology. She and her husband Gary have been married for 42 years and have two sons, Chris and Kevin. Now being retired, she is hoping to spend more time with her family, especially her 7 grandchildren. Becky is happy to join the Porter-Oliger-Pearson family in serving the families in the community.
